The vending services provided at Royal United Hospital in Bath were transformed following the

appointment of ThirstLink. The sad-looking, unreliable, and poorly utilised vending equipment was

providing a poor return. The fact that the same products were sold at varying prices did not help,

neither did the insufficient restocking, and poor hygiene practises from the previous operator/s.

ThirstLink’s proven processes and extensive knowledge of the industry helped to deliver a first-rate

service, and an excellent range of fresh food, drinks, and confectionery products throughout. 15 new

modern machines, fitted with cashless card readers and latest features were financed by the supplier.

The new attractive facilities and options available to visitors and staff has resulted in a six-fold increase

in sales revenue, and all at no cost or risk to the hospital.

Client Testimonial

“Our relationship with ThirstLink is on-going, as we wanted to keep protecting our interest throughout

the term of the suppliers vending contract, A Director from ThirstLink attends all performance review

meetings, assisting us to manage and monitor the service, and deliver on all promises made during the

selection process”. – Ian Scarth (Senior Catering Manager)

Old Provision

Eight Coke vending machines placed – most poorly located throughout

the site – Machines of various ages and type/design – Six snack

machines, and seven hot drinks machines in poor condition, portraying

a bad image for the hospital – vending equipment was more than five

years old – looked after by a national vending operator – Very little

attention had been paid to the range of products available, consistency

of vend prices, or the necessary re stocking of the machines. Income

from vending machines was around £63, 000 p.a.
